“COME SIZZLE WITH SCRIPTURE”

Pastor Nesmith’s Bible Study series “Come Sizzle with Scripture” takes place every Thursday evening at 6:00 pm in the office conference room. In this series we will have fun looking at the Bible texts for the coming Sunday. Bring your favorite Bible.

Although we might be familiar with biblical texts, there are always questions to be asked, a deeper understanding of what God is telling us to explore. God’s word is like His universe ….. always expanding. So if you desire to broaden your knowledge and understanding of the Bible, this is the study class for you.

All are welcome, and we encourage you to invite others to join us. Remember, our mission as Christians is to spread the word of God!

WELCA Bake Sale

THANKS A MILLION!

Our grateful thanks to all those who supported the annual WELCA Bake Sale and made it such a success.

WELCA women of Ascension were able, as a result of the sale, to purchase a Water Buffalo ($150.00) and a Dream Basket. The Dream Basket consists of shares in a sheep, heifer, goat, rabbits, and a flock of ducks and chickens. For families in agricultural communities served by Heifer International these gifts bring self sufficiency and the ability to then help their neighbors by passing on progeny produced by their animals.

It really is true that if you give fish to a family they eat for a day, if you teach them to fish they eat for a lifetime.

Activities Committee

WHAT A GREAT TIME WE HAD……

The Activities Committee wishes to thank all those who attended our “Old Fashioned Hymn Sing and Ice Cream Social.” It was a great success and everyone enjoyed singing favorite hymns from long ago and not so far away!

We raised $265.00 for the Community Caring Center. It is always rewarding for the Committee members when we hear how much our members have enjoyed an event, and we thank again, all those who attended.

BREAKFAST AT THE BEACH

With balmy breezes blowing and God’s beautiful creation all around come and join us every third Thursday of the month at 8:15 am at Ocean Inlet Park located at 6990 North Ocean Boulevard on A1A, just north of Ocean Avenue on the west side at the Boynton Inlet for prayer, praise and breakfast! It’s a joyful and just plain fun time to relax, drink in the scenery and enjoy great company, and all of this for just $3.00!

ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE

The Committee will meet on Thursday, May 7th at 9:30 am in the office Conference Room. We will be focusing on formulating plans for future activities and entertainments for all of our community.

Fresh and exciting suggestions are always welcomed by the committee, so if you have participated in a recent activity that you think would interest our members, please call Marie Catalano at 375-6229.

We would like to extend our thanks to all those volunteers who have offered their assistance in hosting Fellowship Hour during the past several months. We appreciate your assistance in giving of your time to host one of our Sunday gatherings.

There is a sign-up sheet located just inside the front door of the Fellowship Hall so please review the calendar dates and choose a Sunday when you would like to serve. Perhaps there is a date that has a special meaning to you and you would like to share that day with your fellow disciples.
